When your child comes in for their dental exam, our friendly, professional staff shows them how to brush, floss, and the importance of using mouthwash.

It is important to help your children with these habits when they are home, too. Help by making sure they brush for two whole minutes twice a day, and ensuring they floss. Try to limit how much sugar they eat and keep healthy foods at home. And always make sure they are drinking plenty of water!

Terrible Foods: Dental Emergencies Happen!

Your family dentist in Temecula, CA, Nash Dental Care, wants to help take care of you and your teeth. Here are some common foods that can potentially damage your teeth and cause dental emergencies.

  • Hard candy can chip your teeth when you bite into them. They also have a lot of sugar.
  • Chewing ice can also break down your teeth and damage your enamel.
  • Drinking too much alcohol can cause dehydration and increase your chances of getting oral cancer. Alcohol reduces how much saliva is in your mouth which can cause tooth decay.
  • Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, have a lot of sugar that damages your teeth. Drinking water is a much healthier option, for not only your overall health, but also your teeth.
  • Citrus is acidic and causes enamel to erode while also leading to tooth decay.
  • Soda and energy drinks, have a very high sugar content. Sugar leads to bacteria build up in your mouth and around your teeth.
  • Coffee stains your teeth. The amount of sugar you add can also lead to tooth decay.

Nash Dental Care, your Temecula dental office, is here in case of any dental emergencies. Call us and set up an appointment if you notice your teeth are damaged. We want you to achieve great oral health and get the beautiful smile that you deserve!

Monitor Your Sugar Intake!

Your favorite Temecula dentist, Nash Dental Care, wants you to be in the know about your dental care. We want inform you on how to be careful of foods and drinks with high sugar content. Be sure to watch how much and how frequently you consume sugar rich foods, because this is the main reason for tooth decay.

The Worst Foods for a Healthy Mouth

Avoid eating foods and drinks with a lot of sugar because it causes plaque and bacteria to build up in your teeth. This can cause acids to be produced and it eats away at your enamel. Sports drinks, energy drinks, and sodas have high sugar and can cause cavities to develop over time. Try avoiding these drinks, if possible!

Also, be aware of foods like candy, sweets, sodas, sticky foods, and desserts. These can have very high sugar content and can be hard on your teeth.

Preventing Tooth Decay

Plaque and bacteria buildup on and around your teeth can potentially lead to sensitivity. Always make sure to brush after meals or eating sweets to help prevent the sugars from causing tooth decay and cavities.

Nash Dental Care also wants you to make sure the little ones are keeping up with their brushing. They tend to eat a lot of candy. Also, while at the grocery store, make sure to only buy foods that have sugar by reading the label.

Drinking plenty of water throughout the day to help to rinse away food left behind. Fluoridated water can also help rid the mouth of plaque and bacteria. Limit snacking throughout the day, or just make sure to choose more healthy snacks that are better for your teeth. A really helpful tip to curb those cravings in between meals: chew sugarless gum.

Your favorite dentist in Temecula, CA truly cares about your dental health and we want to help you keep your teeth healthy. If you notice any changes when it comes to your teeth, make sure to call and set up an appointment!

Conquering Oral Cancer

Oral cancer strikes over 40,000 Americans annually, killing over 8,000 Americans each year. Smoking, using chewing tobacco and heavy drinking are the prime risk factors, but many people diagnosed with oral cancer have none of these risk factors.

Detecting oral cancer early is critical. Symptoms of oral cancer include a sore throat that doesn’t heal, a lump, or a white or red patch on the inside of the mouth. During your dental exam, the dentist will discuss your health history and perform a visual inspection of the mouth and palpation of the jaw and neck. One test used to screen for oral cancer is the OralCDx Brush Test. This is a virtually painless test that helps dentists more easily distinguish between common lesions and the more lethal cancerous or pre-cancerous lesions.

If you experience any symptoms of oral cancer, please contact us and schedule an oral cancer screening today.

Implant Dentistry: Filling the Holes in Your Life

Did you know that 47% of people claim that the first feature they notice on someone is their smile? That’s a big problem for someone who has one or multiple missing teeth. Missing teeth affect your image and self-confidence, what foods you can eat, your speech, and can lead to overall health issues. On top of this, the gaps from missing teeth create problems with the jaw bone and alignment of remaining teeth. At Nash Dental Care we offer a variety of solutions for missing teeth from dentures and partials, to bridges and implants.

Dental Implants in Temecula at Nash Dental Care allow the patient to not only regain proper function and ability to eat favorite foods, but also look, fit and feel like a natural tooth. Because they are implanted directly into the jawbone, they prevent the bone loss that often results from missing teeth. Implants can replace a single tooth or an entire mouthful and by replacing your tooth, you’re preventing other teeth from shifting towards the gap, all while improving your smile! For more information on how a dental implant can help fix the holes in your life, give Dr. Nash a call today!

Nash Dental Care: Dental Implants

When a dentist sees a tooth with significant damage, wear, or decay, he or she has to choose whether to fill it, crown it, or extract it. Extractions, unfortunately, are the only viable option for teeth with extreme damage. However, the good news is that Nash Dental Care performs dental implants – the most advanced modern method of tooth replacement.

Dental implants look, feel, and function like real teeth. They are custom-milled and bound to the jaw itself, making displacement virtually impossible (barring blunt trauma to the dentition). These dental implants will align themselves beautifully with a patients’ remaining teeth, keeping them from shifting and twisting towards the gap.

Dental Anxiety: Sedation Dentistry

If you have suffered from some form of dental anxiety or always tried to put as much distance from the distance chair as possible, know that you are not alone! We are very aware that dental work can make even the toughest of people fearful, in fact, millions of Americans actually suffer from dental anxiety! That’s why at Nash Dental Care we make it our mission to create an environment where a patient can come in and feel relaxed and comfortable. Through the wonders of sedation dentistry this is very possible! There are a variety of ways to take advantage of Sedation Dentistry depending on a patient’s needs, and through it, literally decades of dental work can be made up in one session!
