Holiday Teeth Care!

Holiday cheer is in the Temecula air! Nash Dental Care located in Temecula Valley is here to get all of our patients in the holiday spirit, even though a white winter is out of the question! We have already informed our patients how important it is that you use your dental benefits before the end of the year. If you don’t your hard-earned insurance benefits will get thrown out the window!  While you make your appointment for your families end of year dental cleaning, Dr. Nash and Dr. Sewell have a few tips and pointers on how to keep your pearly whites pearly white throughout the holidays.

We know that holiday parties are tempting with sweet treats and wine, but don’t forget that sometimes these can do more harm than good! Holiday treats are full of sugar and sugar is a cavity causer. In order to prevent a visit to our office after the new year, make sure to drink water in between sweets, floss, and brush as soon as possible after eating! This will not just help prevent cavities but provides good overall hygiene.

Who likes when wine stains their teeth after a few sips? Not us! Our dentists recommend drinking water and also rinsing your mouth out as often as possible while enjoying a glass of red wine. We dont want to hold you back from your favorite Christmas activities, we just want to help!

Whether you need to use your dental benefits before they expire, come in to see Dr. Nash or Dr. Sewell for a healthy mouth cleaning, exam, or x-rays, we are happy to see you! Due to the holiday season, our appointments tend to fill up quickly. With that being said, make sure you are calling as soon as possible to secure you and your family an appointment here at Nash Dental Care.

We look forward to seeing you soon and hope your family has a cheerful holiday season!

Trick or Treat Tips For A Healthy Halloween

October brings in cooler weather, fall atmosphere, and most importantly Halloween! We know that this time of year means lots of candy and treats for both you and your children. While eating candy is one of the most important parts of trick or treating, we want to ensure that your children have a fun night while also maintaining a healthy mouth. It is no secret that candy causes harm to the teeth. Candy contains sugar which eats away at the enamel of the tooth and ultimately causes cavities and decay. But, there are ways to prevent this from occurring. That is why, here at Nash Dental Care in Temecula, Dr. Sewell and Dr. Nash have provided our patients with some tips and tricks on how to maintain a healthy smile this month.

The stickier the candy (caramel, taffy, etc), the longer they stay on the teeth causing decay.

Chewing sugar-free gum after meals can help reduce tooth decay

Avoid biting into hard candy- this can break off your tooth!

Try to eat candy with meals and drink water afterward

Don’t brush immediately after eating candy since that can remove the softened tooth enamel. Wait at least 30 minutes

Better options are chocolate bars, chocolate-covered items, small hard candies, and licorice

Our staff hopes that the tricks above are followed by you and your children and cavities do not surface. If you have any other questions on how to protect your teeth this month or would like to make an appointment with either of our highly trained doctors give us a call at 951-699-0700

Is A Dental Implant Right For You?

Have you lost a tooth due to accident, injury, or illness? If so, a dental implant is a good option to replace missing teeth.

A dental implant is made of medical-grade titanium that is surgically implanted into your jawbone. A dental crown is placed on top of the implant, with the end result looking and feeling like a natural tooth. Dental implants are a more secure solution for replacing missing teeth than dentures. This is because they are fixed in place and can’t be removed, unlike dentures. And, since they are in place, there is less a chance of loosing them! Dental implants can also be more durable than dentures lasting years longer.

If you choose to have a dental implant, then dental surgery will be required. But, the doctors at Nash Dental Care, Dr. Nash and Dr. Sewell, are highly trained in oral surgery and will work hard to ensure a smooth procedure. The entire process can take up to six months but the end result is well worth the time.

The first step in a dental implant procedure is to insert a titanium screw into the jawbone. Dr. Nash will then create a permanent bond between the implant and the jawbone. A temporary oral appliance will be worn while the jawbone and the implant heals in place. The healing process can take several weeks or months, depending on how quickly the jawbone bonds to the implant.

Once your mouth has healed, you will return to our Temecula dental practice for a custom crown to be placed on top of the dental implant post. The end result is a natural looking tooth and a beautiful smile you can share with family and friends in the Temecula valley!

If you are interested in learning more about dental implants, call Nash Dental Care at 951-319-2180, best dentist in Temecula today. Our friendly staff will answer any questions and set up a consultation with the doctor.
